Dinosaurs!

Waiting with bated breath...

Eruption!

Did it seem louder in our room last week?  Could you hear the roars of dinosaurs as you came up to the building?  Well, during the volcano experiment it was twice as loud!  The classic vinegar and baking soda reaction never fails to excite.  We had such a great week learning about dinosaurs.  Now it's on to St. Patrick's Day and then a week off for Spring Break (March 17 - 21).  Hope yours is relaxing and wonderful!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I would say that the sign of a great party is when you are too busy having fun to take very many pictures.  And that is why I only managed to take two!  Thank you so much to Cooper's mom and Owen's mom for planning and orchestrating the party.  Thank you to all the parents who were able to come, and who sent valentines and goodies for us.  The kids had a blast!  We decorated valentine sacks and cookies, played a very cute relay race, made bracelets, and passed out valentines.  And the balloons were a huge hit!  Thank you parents for sending your little sweethearts to SPX!

Chinese New Year

We had a great week learning all about the celebration of Chinese New Year.  As you can see above, we capped off the week with a festival of sorts, doing our own versions of dragon and ribbon dancing, as well as twirling and posing with some beautiful Chinese parasols.  We learned that this holiday is celebrated in several Asian countries and also by many people in the U.S.  We also learned that traditions include cleaning for the new year by sweeping out the bad luck, getting new haircuts and clothing, and children receiving money in red envelopes.  I think we all had a great time, teachers included :)

We are excited for the party!

Getting ready for our parade.

Everybody shout "Hooray!" for 100 days of school.

Look!  We did it!  We earned a popsicle party, free dress, and extra recess time.

Beautiful Babies!

A few weeks ago in Religion we learned that all babies are special gifts from God, just like baby Jesus. We also learned that everyone used to be a baby.  The kids loved sharing their baby pictures with the class and, my gosh, they were so cute!  And, yes, the black and white picture is me.  Thanks so much for sharing these precious photos.

Yummy!

Hello, one and all!  It's been awhile so I thought I would post a few pictures.  We had such a wonderful time at our class Christmas Party!  Thank you so much to Owen and Cooper's moms for organizing and coordinating this for us.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break.  I am heading up to school soon to get things ready for the week.  And, wouldn't you know it?  Our theme will be Winter Wonderland!  How appropriate with the cold, snowy weather we are having today.  See you tomorrow!
