Fun Day Pictures

Just look who stopped by to trick-or-treat at Mrs. Newton's room:

Tigger

Doc McStuffins

Captain America showing us his moves

Christian decided to use the "come as you are" approach this year...

Spiderman

Batman

A beautiful princess (although she did tell me, "It's Chloe," in case I didn't recognize her!)

Elsa

A fairy?  She didn't have all her accessories on :)

A gladiator, maybe?  Love the new haircut!

Jake, of the Neverland Pirates fame

This Captain America was so busy saving the world that he couldn't pause for a picture!

Schedule Change

We had one change in our second quarter schedule.  Our Thursday P.E. time was moved to after lunch.  Since we are so used to laying down right after lunch I wasn't sure how it would go.  But just look at the results - the entire class fell asleep and slept really hard!

Fire Safety Week

Chloe is ready!

Welcome back, Ronnie!

It's great to play with old friends.

Working hard

We're in good hands with these two!

Obstacle course

We had such a busy week last week!  I only managed to get a few pictures but they do give you a glimpse into our little world.  We learned a 911 song, practiced the Stop, Drop, and Roll technique and crawling low under smoke, and we capped off the week with our obstacle course.  The kids had to jump over a box, go under a yardstick, go around a toy box, go through a tunnel, pick up the hose, put out the pretend fire and rescue a stuffed dog!  We were learning about positional words and fire safety through play, of course.

A special thank you to the Fielstra family for the additional fire safety items for our Dramatic Play center!!

Italy/Pizza Week

Thought you might enjoy these pictures.  We loved making sparkly shape pizzas and playing with real pizza dough.  None of us could really master the traditional tossing of the dough but it wasn't for lack of trying!  It was great to be a part of this school wide theme as the kids had been learning about Italy for several weeks during their library time.

Happy Birthday, Eli!

I think he might just be excited for his birthday...

YUMMY!

The aftermath of cupcakes in a class of 3 year olds.

Don't you wish you worked in Preschool?!

Cooking Class

Every year during pumpkin week we make Pumpkin Mousse.  It's an easy and delicious recipe that allows the kids to have a little taste of real pumpkin.  It's fun to watch the milk turn orange and to see how the pudding thickens.  And you know they just love helping out and working together!  Here is the recipe if you would like to make it at home:

Pumpkin Mousse

1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1 3 ounce package instant vanilla pudding mix
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 1/2 cups cool whip

Stir together milk and pumpkin in mixing bowl.  Add pudding and spice and whisk until thickened. Fold in whipped topping and chill.

Pumpkin Fun

It's nice to relax after a good book!

Hangin' out at the Pumpkin Patch.

Pumpkin goo!

This is fun!

I'm not sure about this...

No fear.

Here, why don't you go first?

Pumpkin week is always one of my favorites.  We talked a lot about the life cycle of pumpkins.  We examined the outside and inside of a real pumpkin to find all the seeds and to see where it all begins. Some of us were a little unsure about actually touching the "pumpkin guts," as you can see.

Fun on the Farm

Corn starch feels soft!

It's almost like snow.

Shucking corn.

This is harder than I thought!

This looks good enough to eat!

They sure do have a variety of expressions!

Natalie is making butter!

Matthew is milking a "cow."

Our finished butter - we still had a lot of butter milk left but the butter part tasted great on crackers!

Boy, Farm Week was exciting!  So many hands-on activities for us to do.  We like to stay busy in our room :)  We talked about all the different things that corn is used for, and about how we get milk from cows and that they have udders.  Good times in Preschool!
